Five days blog 15/6/08

I do not know myself with my 3G net connection. I can do my blog €at my own ease in bed, without having to transfer out to the corner of the room where the desktop is, and try to ram my big bulky chair as near as possible to the pc, ending up typing at a right angle on a super sensitive keyboard. Yes, anything that makes life easier, I am all behind, so you can expect many more rambling entries from now on!

I have an appointment scheduled with a healer. The appointment was made for me, so I'm going. He doesn't seem to be all about money ( which would be a major red flag), and I do believe in the untapped power of the mind. I am not desperately clutching at straws, but if he can channel some energy into me, then I won't be complaining, but I am not going to rush out and buy skates. Being sick and desperate is a really bad combination, and a sure fire recipe for disaster.

I would love to get involved with some pro stem cell research group in Ireland. I was looking at youtube last week, and there was an extract from a lecture from sam harris, author of "the end of religion", and he was saying that a three day old human embryo has approximately one hundred and fifty cells. A FLY has roughly one hundred thousand! Now who is being treated with greater respect in this infuriating scenario?

You will never fully eliminate sickness or disability, they are a fact of life. But the maddening thing for me is that people are stripped of their personal power and choice all because psychologically ill (so called religious) people are convinced that it is in someway healthy or cleansing for people to live lives of degrading dependency. I often think that the supposed "pro life" movement, would be much more accurately referred to as "anti choice"!

Off to spain in three weeks, and can't bloody wait. A week of chatting with old friends around the swimming pool sounds fantastic. Of course a lot has changed physically ( for the worse) in the past four year's, but as luck would have it, the hotel opposite their family home has been converted into a retirement home, so not only do I have my accessible room and loo, but I can also indulge my insatiable appetite for bingo!

Just back from returning a faulty dvd/video combo unit to dixon's. They seem to have greatly improved on their customer service. Once upon an unhappy time, you'd give up in desperation, after your helpline call would be finally answered by somebody in Scotland! Have another reiki session scheduled with jo next Wednesday. To my shame, I haven't read up on the subject, to find out why it is so relaxing and rejuvenating.

Went to my new niece's baptism on Sunday, and even though I am no fan of all that particular cult ceremony entails, it was a lovely day. Its pretty obvious that children are born with a blank slate, and its us ( the life process) that fucks them up! I refuse now, to even go through the empty motions of mass. I think it is actually a really good sign that the churches are emptying, and I must say that one of the main reasons why I voted yes in the Lisbon treaty (even though it was defeated), was because the catholic church were urging people to vote no.

We went to "The Church" restaurant which is near Jervis street. It is a converted you know what, and it is beautiful, but the service leaves a lot to be desired. I think we were waiting twenty minutes on our order, so my advice to anyone going , is not to go on an empty stomach (the food was great though). We did'nt have time to be waiting around for dessert , so on we went to the UCI cinema in Tallaght to see "The Happening". I had heard the reviewer on Sky news saying that it was dismal, and not to waste your time going to see it , but this was the same reviewer who also said that the Sex and The City film was crap, so obviously we don't share the same taste in films.

It certainly wasn't dismal, and it did have its interesting moments, but it was just very cheesy and implausible in parts (1:for a city who's population was apparently decimated, 3 months later it was remarkably back to normal 2:Mark Wahlberg's character talking to a plastic plant really took the biscuit 3: his screen wife seemed to be on some unbelieveably potent happy pill throughout the film).

It certainly will not be winning any Oscars, and i think a lot of people went to see it because they were hoping for another Sixth Sense ride. But even though its from the same writer, its still a very distant cousin. All in all, I found it worth the cost of a cinema ticket, although not a whole lot more.
