News Page - Not Going Quietly

Getting older really isn't something to look forward to when you have to go through life with FA. I have'nt been able to turn in bed now for a few years (and lots of other good stuff) and yet the merest positive word from me in euthanasia' favour, and there is the very distinct possibility that I could be packed off to the nearest loony bin!

The reality though, in a lot of ways is that life never has been so good. I have the van, and personal assistants, who often make me wonder just how the hell I managed before them. I suppose that when you're that far down, the only way is up. Even two years ago, how did we cope with no help and two increasingly disabled adults. Thankfully now, its all behind joe. We have heard rumours that the powers that be are looking at cutting the 30 hours PA help I get per week, so I may have another fight on my hands soon. Why dont they just euthanise us all in that case, or maybe reduce the bonuses they give themselves in the upper echelons of the health board? Where should cost cutting start?

Its been ages since I've updated this blog. Years ago, I bought cuteftp 7 but when transferring all this web posting software to my laptop, it would'nt accept the old activation code. I was existing on the month's trial, and not really in the mood to buy another subscription, but luckily I've found a free ftp agent called filezilla, so now, for better or worse, I'm back in business!

I had a great time at the festival of world cultures in dun laoghaire, the highlight for me being the performance by Yungchen IIamo in monkstown church. It was a fantastic venue, and my first time there. For such a tiny lady, she has a powerful set of lungs, and she even came down during her set to give me a hug.

Making steady progress with autobiography on the dalai lama. As he says, the rest of the world only began to wake up to the barbarous side of the chinese, after the tianaman square episode in 1989. They have been back in the news again, as now they are hosting the paralympics, their hospitals freely abort disabled babies en masse. This obviously has to do primarily with not wanting tto spend state money on longterm care and assistance, rather than any altruistic reason, but it also begs the question, that isn't life hard enough to endure even when you have all your limbs and mental faculties?

It just really annoys me when all the jesus freaks and their ilk, come out to pour scorn and finger point. As if a lifetime of existing in some sheltered accomodation, with the occasional day out, is so much more superior, and deserving of emulation! As if there are'nt countless millions of deformed and severely disabled humans, who can quite obviously testify that there is certainly no perfect creator. Either he has off days, or he has one very twisted sense of humour!

I recently got an email from a jesus freak with FA in canada. He obviously wanted to bait me into a long and ultimately futile religios debate via email. When your mind is closed to any opinion that is different from yours,or you won't even read a book which challenges your beliefs, or presents a different perspective on any person, place or thing that you hold sacrosant, then something is very wrong.
