I saw on the cover of the Irish Daily Mail today “Doctors Vote Against ANY Abortions”. What passes for life and living in this country often ,is just a joke.
Have recently heard about a 42 year old man who died of a heart attack. My initial response was that even though it is a terrific shock to his family, in many ways he was one of the lucky ones.
He could easily have “survived” and been brain dead and without any body control, yet the merest murmur of a beating heart, would have legally qualified him as alive.
The older I get, the more firmly I believe that it is quality over quantity where life is concerned. I am sure the husband of Savita Halappanavar is shocked and angered by this arrogant statement.
The sceptical side of me thinks it is just a nice contentious issue thrown up by the Irish Medical Organisation to divert attention away, from the appallingly inflated pension of their last president.
The legal system in this country is often entirely incapable of dealing with modern day issues . What more could you expect, from laws generated by the ramblings of desert itinerants.
I still often think about Marie Fleming. She has long gone from the brief publicity spotlight that was on her. She now has to endure the only “life” that she has been told she can have. I wonder is she in nappies yet?
You can be quite sure that those overpaid judges and barristers, who seem to have the luxury of turning phrases and juggling words, will not be volunteering their time to help out with the minutiae of her daily living as it is now.
There will be no sign of them operating hoists, washing hair, cleaning teeth, changing wet sheets, or cleaning shitty asses. Yes, there is a very different life course for some………
